The Finest Ski Resorts Europe has to Offer

Snow is falling all over the Alps – the ski season is underway once more. And for the authentic skiing experience, Europe and its many world class resorts are second to none.

For skiing in Europe is about far more than just the slopes – it is about the whole experience. Forget American hospitality: Europe’s gourmet cuisine, local culture and relaxed, ambient mornings cannot be beaten.

Of course there’s the skiing as well; and Europe is home to some of the the most beautiful and challenging ski slopes on the planet. Here are a few choice picks.

Austria: St. Anton

St. Anton is beyond doubt the best skiing terrain in the whole of Austria. Only an hour from Innsbruck, it offers a superb range of aprés-ski and a fantastic selection of great bars, restaurants and cafes. It has a huge variety of different ski runs, with the most famous being within the Valluga region. The majority of vistors to St. Anton will most likely want to spend a day or two skiing in the neighbouring region of Lech. Experts skiers though, will probably prefer taking the cable car all the way up to the Valluga summit.

France: Chamonix

Chamonix is undoubtedly a mecca for dedicated skiers. This 10 mile long valley boast one quaint but bustling town, five massive designated ski areas and of course, access to some of the most challenging and intrepid slopes on the planet. For those daring and experienced enough, the Couloir des Cosmiques lies almost 10,000 vertical feet from Chamonix Sud, and remains a true test for the courageous and the fearless. For something less death-defying, there is 13 mile long rolling schuss of the Vallee Blanche.

Switzerland: Verbier

The French-speaking town of Verbier is an entirely different experience from Chamonix or St. Anton. Whereas these resorts boast some of the finest and most challenging slopes in the world, Verbier’s true success is in its hospitality and charm. Expect sophisticated hotels and restaurants, top-notch bars, and easy access lifts to 255-miles of slopes and off-piste zones. Verbier is in many ways the European ski experience, personified.

Second to None

Where hospitality and world-class ski resorts are concerned, there can be none finer than in France, Austria and Switzerland. So dust off those skis, get yourself some new all-terrain snow gear from Dare 2b, and prepare to be dazzled.
