Photo Guidlines for Cycling Products

General Guidelines:

We resize images on the fly depending on where they are used. Do not be concerned with images being “too big” for the web, the bigger the better!

  • Images should be at least 1000px wide, and high quality.
  • File size should be around 500kb to 1MB as a minimum.

Use 3:2 landscape aspect images where possible, especially as the main product image.

Good example shots

good5
Use scenic shots rather than closeups
good4
Cyclists + Scenery + Snaking tarmac = Perfect
good3
For sportif products, a picture of the sportif in action is ideal. Add scenery & snaking tarmac for a winning shot.
good2
Dramatic scenery with a road, ace!
good
Use this kind of shot for a sportif, but not for a training camp.

Not so good:

close-roady
Not a good choice for a main image, but good enough for a secondary shot
closeup
A generic closeup, could be anywhere, not the best.

Photos are not for screengrabs!
selfie
Selfies should stick to facebook!
sportif-image-bad
Low quality shots equate to a low quality holiday, shows lack of care and attention! Better off without it.
roseland
Nice enough supporting photo, but way too low quality.
irrelavent
If it’s a road biking product, don’t include photos of mountain bikers!
BAOBAB TRAINING CAMP
Don’t use ready-made mosaic images, if we want to create a mosaic, we can do it ourselves.
