Peace One Day Tomorrow

Tomorrow, the 21st of September 2010, marks the return of the most important dedicated day of the year: Peace Day. We at muchbetter HQ are big fans of this initiative and would like to spread the UN GA Resolution 55/282 love to our growing community in an appeal to get involved.

I was introduced to this initiative a few years ago when I had the privilege of meeting and speaking to Peace One Dayfounder, Jeremy Gilley. As a former television star, Gilley appeared in a selection of TV classics such as Succubus, Nexus 2.431 and The Bill before turning his attention to making one of the most significant films ever made.

Meeting this man is an experience that one never forgets. In an instant, you like him. Not only for his acting skills in the aforementioned shows, but for his vision, genuine commitment and determination to make a positive impact on a global scale. He has a message thats genius lies in its simplicity and he wants to see how far he can take it, and so far – very.

Since his journey began to secure one day of global peace; he has successfully forced politicians to question themselves at the highest level, has made the Taliban sign a peace treaty allowing 1.6 million childrento be immunised against polio in Afghanistan and has even given Jude Law the chance to feature in something decent (sorry Jude, we love you really).

POD intends to reach 3 billion people with the messageof Peace Day by 2012. In order to achieve this, they need your support. So, check out their website or follow them on Facebookto learn more and to see how you can get involved. You can organise a football game for the One Day One Goal initiative, buy the documentary or simply forgive an old foe. The guys at POD understand that like so much in this world, it is the small things that make a big difference, and I think that is something we can all relate to.
