Meet the members – Himalayan Single Track

Who are you and your team?
A PARTNERSHIP FOR MOUNTAIN BIKING IN NEPAL – Himalayan Single Track is a partnership between Santosh Rai, a professional rider, mechanic and guide and Jenny Lama a passionate recreational mountain biking and international tour guide. The partnership was born through a shared passion for mountain biking and the development and promotion of mountain biking in Nepal, to showcase the best tracks and trails to cyclists from around the world as well as the desire to help support Nepals Professional Riders and encourage new riders to join the ranks.
Our team comprises of Som Rai, Sunil Lama and Dawa Sherpa our local tour leaders and mechanics that are ready to show you a fun time and the best trails in Nepal.
What inspired you to start, and how long have you been doing it?
We created Himalayan Single Track one year ago. Our joint passion for mountain biking inspired us to start a mountain bike company in Nepal. Now we get to live our dreams and guide people around Nepals mountain bike tracks and trails EVERYDAY!
Why did you choose Nepal?
Nepal is one of the most beautiful, culturally and scenically rich countries in the world and the best thing, the Himalayas boasts some of the best mountain bike trails to be ridden. The perfect environment in which to open a mountain bike company. Jenny fell in love with Nepal and choose to live in here and well Santosh is a born and bred local who loves his country.
What makes you much better?
Himalayan Single Track works hard to support local riders to encourage them and train them to be guides providing proper training, guidance and support. We are also one of the few companies in Nepal to pay fair wages to our staff. We also have created the Nepal Riders Fund which uses a percentage of our profits to help support and train Nepals professional riders to be able to compete on an international Level. When you ride with Himalayan Single Track you can also meet some of Nepals top ten riders.
We also aim to be sustainable in our tours; we actively promote locally based tourism and also only use environmentally responsible tea houses when riding in Conservation areas. And the best bit..the mountain bike is a great eco friendly, cheap and non polluting way to get around and see Nepal.
Insider tip for your area
Our tip for the best ride in Nepal is the trail from Muktinath in the heart of the Annapurna Region to Beni, high up in the Himalayas from one of the holiest temples in Nepal single track abounds and there are trails to suit all levels of riders, the best bits its about 80% downhill..Stunning Scenery, beautiful people, rich culture and simply brilliant Mountain Biking..
