British teen becomes youngest ever Seven Summits climber

British teenager, George Atkinson, has just become the youngest ever person to complete the Seven Summits – climbing the highest mountains on each continent before his 17th birthday.

George summited Everest on the 26th of May (2011), only a few days before his birthday. This follows successful climbs of Kilimanjaro (his first, at the age of 11), Mount Elbrus, Carstensz Pyramid, Mount Aconcagua, Mount McKinley and Mount Vinson.

According to his blog, George is currently on his way down from Base Camp, and back to Kathmandu, before travelling home shortly.

In completing the Seven Summits he not only becomes the youngest person to do so, but also the youngest British person to summit Everest.

We have contacted George with a few questions, and will be featuring him in the Grapevine when he gets down!
